A Revelation of Love Sparks A Revolution of Good (Part 4): Give

Nostalgia Moment! Anyone remember Scrooge McDuck? The cartoon that proved that if you had enough money, you could swim in it!

Every episode, the Beagle Boys or Magica De Spell would try to steal “Uncle Scrooge’s” fortune. Here’s how an encounter with God’s love would change that…

An encounter with God’s love will cause us to give before the world can take away

Jesus said, “Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:33-34)

What Jesus is saying here is just this–if our hearts have truly been transformed by God’s love, then giving with purpose really won’t be an issue. I love what Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get, bu we make a life by what we give.” What would the world look like if everyone lived like you, talked like you, and gave like you? Would it be cold and shallow?

Christian people, listen to me. Giving a tract to a waitress is the worst tip you could ever leave. “But I’m sharing the Gospel…” is a stupid argument. No you’re not. Why do people work? Because they have needs. If you really want to show him/her the goodness of God, first meet their need by giving them $100; then tell them the goodness of God.

Those who have had an encounter with God’s love will live palms out, rather than palms down. Those who have had an encounter with God’s love will give before the world can take away.
